CADCAM
series: high tech used for the production of electromagnetic pickups
|
| |
Philosophy |
 |
Thorndal
pickups are the result of a longstanding developmental work from
musicians for musicians. Our research's aim was and is the sound
optimization of electromagnetic pickups. For this purpose, guitar
players of different styles constantly test and evaluate our prototypes.
The statements are documented and carefully analyzed. The outcome:
an enormous wealth of experience about the coherences between sound
features and the production technique or and the materials (such
as wire gauge, number of turns, winding system ...).
So we developed an extensive assortment of different pickups - for
every musician's taste! |

Production |
 |
Thorndal
Pickups were developed by luthier Gregor Olbrich, Maroldsweisach,
Germany in cooperation with consulting engineer Frank Schoepf,
Niefern, Germany.
Thorndal pickups are wound on specially designed CNC-controlled
winders. They do the computer exact production of the computer-designed
CADCAM series pickups. The use of these machines guarantees the
optically exact winding, minimized tolerances and reduced processing
time. |
